Identification Needed For Everyone
 
Voters must have the proper identification to vote. The type of identification needed varies if you are an absentee voter or you vote at the polls on Election Day. 
 
Regular Voting Identification

The identification most commonly used is an Ohio Driver's License Number or a State of Ohio Photo I.D. The Ohio Driver's License or ID must be valid, however even if it shows a previous address it can be used.
Other types of identification that can be used are bank statements, utility bills, paycheck and any government-issued document showing your name and the address you are voting from.
If all else fails you can verbally give the last four digits of your social security number. However, the ballot will be a provisional ballot and not counted until 14 days later. Recommended I.D. for regular voting is a valid Ohio Driver's License or Ohio Photo I.D. Remember it does

 
Provisional Voting Identification

You may use any of the Identification listed above for regular voting but the simplest to use is the last four digits of your social security number. Recommended for provisional voting are the last four digits of your social security number. Remember these numbers must be correct. If you use your Ohio Driver’s License Number be sure to use the number on the left hand side. Not the number above your picture. Your ballot will be placed in an identification envelope. It is critical you complete everything. Do not just show them your Ohio Driver’s License write the number on the envelope where indicated. Be sure to sign your name where asked for.





Remember Passports and Ohio University I.D.'s are not identification accepted.
