Election Day VotingVote Tuesday, November 4th Polls Open at 6:30am and close at 7:30pm
Registered To Vote But Not At Your Current Address? You are Called A Provisional Voter and You Can Vote.
If you are registered to vote in Athens or back home in Cleveland you can still vote here on Election Day. You are called a provisional voter. As long as you are registered to vote somewhere in Ohio you can vote on Election Day here in Athens by going to Baker Center, 2nd Floor or the Board of Elections located at 15 South Court. You will vote a local ballot.
Be sure to complete all blanks correctly on the envelope your ballot goes into if you do not your ballot will not count. Things that will disqualify your ballot are listed below.
1. Printing not signing your name. Also not using the signature on your voter registration card. They check each of these.
2. Putting the wrong address on the envelope your ballot goes into. You must put the address you are registered to vote at.
3. Not putting the correct last four digits of your social security number or Ohio driver’s license number. The Board of Elections has this information and will double check it.
4. Not putting your date of birth or putting down the wrong date of birth. Remember not to accidently put down the year 2007.
5. Detaching the stub from the ballot. If you accidently do this include it in the envelope.
Registered To Vote At Your Current Address?
You must vote at your correct polling location if you need information as to where that is call the Board of Elections at 592-3201 or the Democratic Party at 594-VOTE(8683) or go to the Democratic Party website at Democrathens.com for a listing of where residents of dormitories vote.
Identification Needed For Everyone
Every voter must have the proper identification to vote. The most common type of identification used is an Ohio Driver's License. The address on the Driver's License does not have to match the address you are voting from. You may also use a State of Ohio ID card. You also can use one of the following as long as it has your name and correct voting address on it. A paycheck, a utility bill, a letter from a government agency including Ohio University.
